Pip is an example of what you get when you hand an engineer a set of plans for an old radial model airplane engine. He begins to study them, decides to make a “few” changes to update it for better performance and ease of machining, then promptly takes a left turn and comes up with something completely new. …….
So begins the description of “Pip”, our 3-cylinder radial model airplane engine designed for machining in the home shop. Although it is still a challenging project, it was designed to be as simple as possible, while still retaining as much performance and classic looks as possible. This page chronicles the completion of this unique project. ENJOY! |
